Karthik and Swati's group project was proving to be a disaster. Their disagreements had become the stuff of college legend, with their classmates betting on how long it would take for them to kill each other.
One evening, as they worked on their project in the college library, Karthik turned to Swati and said, "You know, we're never going to get this done if we keep fighting."
Swati looked up from her notes, her expression softening slightly. "I know. I just get frustrated when people don't take things seriously."
Karthik leaned back in his chair. "I take things seriously. I just don't see the point in stressing out about every little detail."
Swati raised an eyebrow. "You're not exactly known for your attention to detail, Karthik."
Karthik grinned. "Hey, that's not fair. I'm a great artist."
Swati smiled, a small, tentative smile. "I'll give you that. You're definitely creative."
As they worked, their conversation flowed more easily, and they started to discover common interests. They both loved art, music, and old movies.
As the library closed, Karthik suggested they grab some dinner at a nearby café. Swati agreed, and they walked out of the library together, feeling more at ease with each other.
Over dinner, they talked and laughed, their differences forgotten. Karthik was surprised to find himself enjoying Swati's company, and Swati was struck by Karthik's easy charm.
As they finished their meal, Karthik walked Swati home, the night air filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers.
"Thanks for dinner," Swati said, smiling up at Karthik.
Karthik smiled back, feeling a spark of attraction. "Anytime. Maybe we can do it again sometime?"
Swati's eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.
"I'd like that," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Karthik's heart skipped a beat as he realized that he was falling for his sworn enemy. Little did he know, Swati was feeling the same way.
